The best neighbourhoods depend on your needs. Working Downtown? St. Boniface, Downtown, the Exchange District, and Osborne Village are great choices. Are you a student at the University of Manitoba? Fort Richmond is your best bet. Want great amenities at lower prices? St. James might fit the bill.
The costs of apartments in Winnipeg vary depending on location and size; according to the CMHC, the average rent for a 2-bedroom apartment in Winnipeg was $1571 in 2025.
Most apartments do not include all utilities. At Globe, all of our apartments include water; many of our rental suites also include Hydro, heat, or both.
Proof of income (in the form of two recent pay statements), government-issued photo ID, an application form, and letters of reference are all good to bring. When you tour the apartment, you should also bring a phone to photograph anything that needs to be repaired.
Winnipeg is one of the best places in Canada to rent an apartment; rental costs are low relative to other cities of its size, most neighbourhoods in the city are extremely safe for families, and the diverse job market leaves plenty of opportunities for professional growth.
For low prices, we recommend looking in the winter; most people do not want to move during the coldest months, so rents trend lower. For more selection, look during the summer; that’s when most people are inclined to move.
